DAVID HARDING is Co-Founder and Director of Water Is Life. He was born in Ethiopia and lived there for 9 years before moving to North Carolina. The Harding family has worked in Ethiopia since 1953 and have cultivated strong relationships and a network of partnerships over the decades. To prepare for his life-work, David earned an undergraduate degree in agricultural engineering from NC State University and two graduate degrees from the University of California, Davis in water science and international agricultural development. He worked for 10 years for the State of North Carolina’s Division of Environmental Management protecting the State’s waters from stormwater runoff pollution. He then worked for 20 years with a non-profit responding to disasters around the world including the Southeast Asia Tsunami in 2004 and the Haiti earthquake in 2010. David and his wife Merrie have three adult children and have resided in Nigeria, the Kingdom of Jordan and Ethiopia before settling in Orlando in 2002. They have returned to Ethiopia multiple times every year since 2001 and through a network of friends and associates formalized Water Is Life as a Florida-based non-profit in 2006 to encourage and empower Ethiopians to address the water and poverty crisis.
